Project overview

REAPsystems is working with a major manufacturer of underwater vehicles. Production of a 310V, 40Ah prototype battery for a new autonomous ROV has been completed within a very tight schedule.

Our solution

REAPsystems provided standard BMS's, system integration and necessary consultancy, including a 24/7 hot-line and emergency service. The relationship has continued to grow since and now also includes the production of complete battery modules.

Key challenges

Due to the small vehicle size it is necessary to have a small battery system. The BMS must have a low power consumption as the vehicle is out of use for long periods of time whilst above water. REAPsystems worked closely with the customer to ensure reliability and safety of the battery system when the vehicle is submerged. Viewing the remaining energy available before deploying the vehicle is also essential. Extensive support was given to the customer and it is necessary that this support and replacement of components can continue throughout the vehicles life.
