How should I treat the new batteries before using them?

The Thunder Sky Li-Ion batteries are solid state batteries. Metallic lithium will be produced during the first charging inside the battery. This lithium will quickly react and form a layer on the electrodes - the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). This SEI is an essential part of the solid state lithium ion battery. The first charging is crucial for the performance and lifetime of the battery and one should carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions. Thunder Sky recommends charging with 0.3C up to 4.25 V and waiting at constant voltage until the current decreases to 0.01C. A full discharge at 0.3C should follow. Two or three cycles are recommended. Our experience showed a stable behaviour after the first cycle. We encourage using a HF charger, because the ripple of transformer chargers cause unwanted heat in the cell and the voltage limit of 4.25 V can be exceeded at peak voltages.
