650V Battery Management System

REAPsystems involvement

REAPsystems is producing a 650V central battery management system for up to 168 cells using their off the shelf BMS. It plugs into 8 cell battery modules available from Kokam and can be used in larger vehicles, boats, submarines or cars.

Key challenges of the project

The high voltage, high power and high electrical raise levels are a challenge alone in this system and require an approach different to other, lower voltage systems. The large number of cells in the system also presents a challenge for battery management; REAPsystems' BMS is able to have the closed loop control at a speed equal to that of a system with a much smaller number of cells.
